The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Debuts, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games
Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow
The feature will welcome back of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
The company has a trio of new releases already confirmed for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
