Former National Football League wide receiver Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to confront an attempted murder accusation connected with a gunfire that occurred in May, as his lawyer filing a not guilty response on his behalf.

Detention records in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was released on Tuesday morning for his move to the state of Florida. Brown, among the most famous figures in the NFL, had waived transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was held after being apprehended in Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an communication that he has already lodged a formal innocent response to the murder attempt charge. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as soon as Wednesday morning for a release hearing, Eiglarsh added.

Based on his apprehension document, Brown is alleged of taking a pistol from a security guard after a celebrity fighting bout in May and discharging two rounds at a person he had confronted with before. The alleged victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators that a bullet grazed his throat.

Eiglarsh said that Brown was simply protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The measures he was forced to take were solely in defense against the claimed person’s hostile conduct. Brown was targeted that night and acted within his legal privilege to defend himself,” Eiglarsh stated.

Brown was not right away apprehended because at first police did not identify Nantambu as a victim. It not until afterward in May that Nantambu provided a detailed account about the incident to authorities and pointed out Brown as the shooter, the affidavit indicates.

From his online content, Brown had been staying in Dubai for several weeks. In a post after the confrontation, Brown claimed he was defending himself because he was “assaulted by multiple people who tried to take my jewelry and cause bodily harm to me.”

A category two murder attempt accusation in Florida bears a maximum 15-year incarceration sentence and up to a $10,000 fee in the instance of a conviction.

Brown has dealt with numerous judicial issues over the years. He earlier had been accused of battery of a truck operator, multiple family violence charges, inability to pay family payments and other occurrences.

In a recent contest with Tampa Bay against the New York Jets, Brown took off his uniform, equipment and accessories and ran off the stadium, resulting in his termination by the Buccaneers and effectively ending his football tenure.

Brown, who spent a dozen years in the league, was an All-Pro receiver who passed the bulk of his time with Pittsburgh. Throughout his time, Brown had over 900 receptions for more than 12,291 distance, the 28th greatest of all time. He was a seven-time prestigious selection.
